Victorian Crime Statistics Agency Data Added to the Atlas

New dataset
A new Victorian Crime Statistics Agency custom dataset has been added to the Atlas, covering calendar-year data from 2008 to 2025 for Victoria and Victorian Local Government Areas.
The dataset includes indicators relating to alleged offender incidents, unique alleged offenders, affected family members in family incidents, other parties in family incidents, total victim reports, and victim reports by offence division. Indicators are available by age group, sex and geography, with offence-division detail available for selected offender and victim-report indicators.
For alleged offender indicators, age groups include 10 to 17 and 18 to 24 years. For victim report indicators, age groups include 0 to 9, 10 to 17 and 18 to 24 years. Family incident indicators are available for 0 to 17 and 18 to 24 years. Outputs are reported for male, female and all sex categories.
These custom data are reported by calendar year and should not be directly compared with publicly available CSA statistics reported for the year ending 31 March, as the reference periods differ. From 1 October 2025, people aged 10 to 11 years are excluded from the 10 to 17 alleged offender indicators, consistent with the increase in the minimum age of criminal responsibility in Victoria. As a result, the 2025 value for the 10 to 17 age group is not directly comparable with 2008 to 2024 values.
Rates were calculated per 10,000 population using ABS Estimated Resident Population denominators. The 2025 counts are retained, but 2025 rates are currently unavailable because the corresponding 2025 ERP denominators were not available at the time of processing.
