Digital Atlas of Australia Population Projections Added to the Atlas

New Dataset

A new population projections dataset has been added to the Atlas for 2022 to 2032, based on the 30 June 2022 population base. SA2 and LGA source data were downloaded from the Digital Atlas of Australia.

The data are available by 5-year age group and sex. ACYWA retained the age groups 0 to 4, 5 to 9, 10 to 14, 15 to 19 and 20 to 24, and derived the combined 0 to 24 age group. A total sex category was also derived from male and female counts. SA2 and LGA values were processed directly from the publicly available Digital Atlas source files. SA3, SA4 and State/Territory values were derived by ACYWA by aggregating SA2-level projected population counts.

The projections were prepared by the Australian Bureau of Statistics for Geoscience Australia and accessed via the Digital Atlas of Australia. These projections are not official ABS population projections and are owned by Geoscience Australia.
