ABS Preschool Participation Data Added to the Atlas

New Dataset
A new preschool dataset has been added to the Atlas using data from the National Early Childhood Education and Care Collection, accessed through ABS TableBuilder. The dataset covers 2018 to 2025 and provides information on children enrolled in and attending a preschool program across Australia.
The derived indicators include counts and proportions of children enrolled in preschool, counts and proportions of enrolled children attending preschool in the reference week, and annualised hours indicators for both enrolment and attendance. Annualised hours are reported using the following hour bands: 1 to 399 hours, 400 to 599 hours, 600 or more hours, and not stated.
Indicators are available for children aged 4 years, 5 years and combined 4 to 5 years, and are disaggregated by sex and geography. Outputs were standardised to ASGS 2021 geography. SA2 outputs are available for preschool enrolment and reference-week attendance indicators, while annualised hours indicators are available at broader geographies. The Atlas uses the full enrolled preschool cohort by age, rather than the Year Before Full-Time Schooling flag.
