Supporting advocacy and program delivery at Smiling Mind

The Child and Youth Wellbeing Atlas has enriched the work of Smiling Mind by providing one of the few up to date resources available for understanding the experiences of Australian children and young people. Smiling Mind is an Australian digital-led, prevention focussed mental health not-for-profit, developing evidence-based resources and programs for building mental fitness skills. By providing vital, accessible insights, the Atlas has been instrumental in shaping Smiling Mind’s strategic advocacy and program delivery planning.

Beyond informing their applied work, the Atlas also serves as a model of good data practice and real-world application of data to drive systemic change. It has influenced the organisation’s thinking around a national child mental health and wellbeing data collection approach, demonstrating the power of integrated data platforms. The Atlas model has guided Smiling Mind senior staff members to convene collaborative conversations across multiple organisations who are all passionate about improving data availability about child mental health and wellbeing across Australia.
